Have you ever dreamed of casting a spell at Diagon Alley? A necessity for every wizard or witch who visits Universal Orlando is an interactive magic wand. The interactive wands allow you to cast spells which create amazing, enchanting experiences throughout Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. With a flick of your wrist, you will feel like a Hogwarts student in no time.
Choosing Your Wand
Wands can be purchased at Ollivanders, which has locations in both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. However, there’s more than just one famous wandmaker in the wizarding world. Wands by Gregorovitch is the long-time rival to Ollivanders and is home to the wand of Bulgarian Quidditch champion, Victor Krum. Various carts in the parks and CityWalk also carry interactive wands.
Ollivanders is a quaint, musty shop filled to the rafters with every type of wand imaginable and is home to the famous, fully immersive wand selection ceremony. This experience will prove, “The wand chooses the wizard, Mr. Potter.”
Casting Spells
Once you’ve acquired your interactive wand, you can begin your spell-casting journey. Casting spells takes a little bit of practice. Not everyone is a natural wizard like Hermione. Each wand comes with a map full of locations and spells, where a flick of the wrist produces spellbinding moments. Twenty-five gold medallions mark the spot where each spell can be brought to life. Our favorite spell happens to be at a hidden location that you won’t find on the map. It’s found in the far right window of the Slug & Jiggers Apothecary. Point your wand at the dragon dung and prepare to be amazed.
A few other hidden locations are: the eyes near Gringotts, the skeleton in Knockturn Alley, and the parchment near the Wingardium Leviosa feather. If you struggle with wand skills like Ron, don’t fear, spell instructors are standing by most of the locations if you need some help.
Wand Repair
Don’t worry if your wand suddenly stops working correctly. A quick visit to the Owlery in Hogsmeade or Ollivanders in Diagon Alley will get you back to spell casting in no time. Wand repair is free and only takes a few minutes.
Professor Flitwick will be proud as you “swish and flick” your way through the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
