If you’re a Disney fan and you haven’t given Disney Cruise Line a try, what are you waiting for?? Cruising with Disney is my family’s favorite way to vacation and has allowed us to explore LOTS of different places. A cruise can be equal parts relaxing and equal parts adventurous; doing it with Disney only helps to enhance the entire experience. So, without further ado, here are the top-5 reasons to take a Disney cruise…
5. Dedicated Space For Kids
Disney Cruise Line is certainly a vacation geared toward families, which is why there is so much focus on providing tons of fun for kids of all ages. The Oceaneer Club and the Oceaneer Lab will immerse your kids (ages 3-12) into worlds inhabited by their favorite characters, with high-energy cast members and tons of activities planned specifically for them. For the tweens (ages 11-14), the Edge is a place designed specifically for them where they can play games, watch movies, and hang out with other cruisers their age. And for the older teens who just want to escape their embarrassing parents, the Vibe (ages 14-17) offers an exclusive place to hang out, listen to music, watch tv, and meet new friends! Add to that the pools, water slides, mini golf, and more and there is always something fun going on for the kids and teens.
4. Food
One of the best parts about vacation is not having to worry about what you eat, right? Put away the diets, the healthy snacks, and the carb watching and just ENJOY yourself – you’ve earned it! There are so many different dining opportunities available to you, and the vast majority of it is included in the cost of your cruise! From the main dining restaurants, to the daily buffet, to the quick service options, to the FREE room service, there is so much variety and you never have to go too long without your next meal or snack. And I haven’t even gotten to the best part yet…it’s really good! Rarely have I eaten something that I didn’t like, and if I did, I easily swapped it out for something more enjoyable. You’d think with so much food and so many meals being prepared daily, that the food quality would suffer – not an issue with Disney Cruise Line!
3. Entertainment
Whether you are a large family with small kids, a small family with large kids, or enjoying an adults-only getaway, there is something onboard for everyone. Disney is an entertainment company, and entertainment is what they do best. From Broadway-caliber performances in the Walt Disney Theater, to world class variety acts, to first-run movies in the Buena Vista Theater, to dance parties in the adult-only nightclubs, to dancing with your favorite character in the lobby atrium, to family trivia in the lounges, to taking a ride around the upper deck on the only water coaster at sea, there is round-the- clock entertainment for every age! Grab a paper copy of the daily Navigator or set reminders for certain events on your phone. Good luck trying to fit it all in!
2. Castaway Cay
I could write an entire blog post about all the reasons to love Castaway Cay, but I’ll save that for a later day. Castaway Cay is Disney’s own private island in the Bahamas and is a tropical paradise! With crystal clear water, immaculately-groomed white, sandy beaches, and softly-swaying palm trees, it’s the perfect place for a beach day getaway. But laying in the sun is not all there is to do. There are many shore excursions to sign up for, including jet-skiing, parasailing, bike riding, fishing, and snorkeling with rays. There’s plenty to do for the more adventurous cruisers, too! With a family beach and an exclusive adult-only beach hideaway, you’ll never want to return to the ship.
