Tucked away in a corner of this grand, Victorian resort is one of our newfound favorites, Grand Floridian Cafe. We almost don’t want to share about this easy-to-get dining reservation. This charming cafe serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is located inside Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort.
Let’s start with the ambience. It’s a grandmother’s paradise and makes you feel like you’ve stepped right into a Victorian era tea party. Flowered wallpaper, white trim and moldings, patterned carpet, warm chandeliers, and elegant floral arrangements welcome you to this hidden gem.
After a long day at Magic Kingdom, we hopped aboard the monorail and zipped over for our dining reservation. We literally decided a few hours before to grab this reservation and give it a try, and boy are we glad we did!
Steph opted for the Heirloom Apple Salad. It was a salad lover’s dream with organic baby lettuce adorned with apples and pecan brittle dressed with Honey-dashed Apple Vinaigrette. It was a welcomed, lighter dish after enjoying so many yummy snacks on Main Street, U.S.A.
Since I’m a firm believer that calories don’t count at Disney, I chose the Lobster “Thermidor” Burger. It’s an artisanal burger with Lobster-Parmisan Thermidor Sauce on a seared brioche bun served with Cafe Signature Seasoned French Fries. As far as burgers go, this one presented a tasty twist to the traditional classic.
Because we were celebrating Stephanie’s birthday and she was wearing her celebration button, our kind server surprised us with an adorable and delicious vanilla, sprinkled Mickey cupcake.
If you have a day off from the parks, then you may want to check out the brunch fare as well. Word on the street is that their brunch puts the “grand” in Grand Floridian Cafe. Some options include Lobster Benedict, Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffles, and the Traditional Mickey Waffles with a long list of topping options. We say try them all!
With a smorgasbord of dining locations throughout Walt Disney World, Grand Floridian Cafe is a relaxed location with a fancy feel and great grub…but don’t tell anyone. Shhh!
