A Disney vacation is never complete without taking a trip to Disney Springs. In addition to an amazing shopping experience, some of Disney’s best restaurants are located in Disney Springs. Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ was new to me, but since I heard so many great things about it I brought a large group of friends here for dinner one night. I think for most of our group this was their favorite dining location of our entire trip.
The atmosphere at Chef Art Smith’s is very cozy and welcoming, with farm-to-table cuisine inspired by Florida’s rich agricultural heritage. Guests of age can enjoy signature moonshine craft drinks from Southern Shine Bar. There are fun cocktails to choose from that include top shelf liquor and fresh fruit. You can even build your own flight for $20 by selecting any three of their house infused or branded ‘shines. This is served with a spiced pickle juice chaser and candied pecans.
Make sure that you come here with a large appetite. The amount of food that they bring out is pretty grand. I started with some Church Lady deviled eggs and hushpuppies. They were both so delicious.
I was very full after the appetizers so I ordered the Addie Mae chicken and dumpling soup for my main course. It was good but I wish that I had a larger appetite because I really wanted to try the famous fried chicken platters.
Most of our party ordered the fried chicken, and I do believe that was the reason they wanted to come back again. The fried chicken came with mashed potatoes and these amazing cheddar drop biscuits. Others ordered the fried chicken and donuts platter which was out of this world!
I wanted dessert in the worst way but I couldn’t possibly do it after this meal! They did offer their legendary shine cake, hummingbird cake, donuts and chocolate pecan pie. My guess is they are all as delicious as the meal.
Our waitress was incredibly friendly and accommodating to the allergies that we had at our table, which was a great relief. She also offered to take photos of our group which was very nice and a wonderful way to remember our night out in Disney Springs.
