The Walt Disney Company has been announcing plenty of exciting news during their Investor’s Day livestream today. Among their announcements, Lucasfilm has confirmed new TV shows that will be headed straight to Disney+.
John Favreau and Dave Filoni, creators of The Mandalorian will be developing two new series, “Rangers of the New Republic” and “Ahsoka.” Both series are set to be live action.
Hayden Christensen will officially be playing Darth Vader in the Obi-Wan Kenobi self-titled series. Ewan McGregor was already confirmed to reprise his role as Obi-Wan. Filming for the series starts in January 2021.
Rogue One character, Cassian Andor, will be getting his own series on Disney+ as well. “Andor” will be streaming in 2022 and takes place prior to the events of Rogue One.
The original owner of the beloved Millennium Falcon, Lando Calrissian, is getting his own TV series titled, “Lando.”
Coming soon to Disney+ is the animated series, The Bad Batch. The series will star the new characters from the final season of The Clone Wars. This series will debut in early 2021.
Director of Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins, will be directing the next Star Wars live action film, Rogue Squadron. The film is set to premiere Christmas of 2023.
Additional Disney+ Star Wars content is Visions, The Acolyte, and A Droid Story. Visions and A Droid Story will be animated series and The Acolyte will be a live action series.
