When my family plans a trip, we always need to be very conscious of where we can dine or how we can cook in. Having children with food allergies can be very challenging at times. I know many people who have restricted dietary needs or severe allergies and are apprehensive to travel at all.
This is one of the very many reasons why we love going to Walt Disney World. Disney is so accommodating to all dietary needs. Here are just some of the food intolerances and allergies that they have covered.
- Peanut/Tree Nut
- Gluten
- Wheat
- Eggs
- Fish/Shellfish
- Milk
- Lactose
- Soy
- Corn
- Vegan/Vegetarian
I am going to share with you some great tips to help you start planning your Disney vacation without worries about dining with allergies.
First of all ,when I book Dining for a client I always add allergies to the reservation. This way the restaurant will know in advance what the allergy is and are better prepared for your arrival. Most restaurants will also have allergy menus for you to view on the Walt Disney World website.
You also have the option of reaching out to a Cast Member prior to your trip if you have specific dietary needs or allergy concerns. The email is special.diets@disneyworld.com.
The My Disney Experience app also offers a great way to ensure that your dietary needs are met. They have allergy menus and you can specify exactly what your allergy is and view a menu customized to that. There are times when a menu may not have an allergy menu option. In this situation you can see a Cast Member at the quick service location and they will be happy to help.
Some families prefer to bring their own food and make meals at the resort. Many Disney resort rooms offer both a refrigerator and a microwave. If your room does not have a microwave you can always request one or use the microwave that is located in the cafeteria area of the resort or the marketplace. Better yet, upgrade to a villa and your family will have a full kitchen including everything that you need to prepare an entire meal for your family.
When ordering one of the many fan favorite snacks at Walt Disney World such as the Mickey bar, hot pretzels, popcorn, dole whip, churros or bakery items, Disney outdoes itself with making sure guests are safe. The Cast Member will bring out a binder that lists all of the ingredients in the snack that you are purchasing. If necessary I have seen them actually go to another building to prepare the food safely away from everything else. The measures that Disney takes to keep you and your family safe is truly extraordinary.
