Disney Cruise Line has made lots of changes to be able to return to sailing. One change that is a great improvement is the Castaway Cay virtual queue for disembarking the ship. Previously, you would have hundreds of people gathered on the staircases waiting for the “all clear” to go ashore, but not anymore!
The virtual queue not only keeps everyone physically distanced as they disembark, but allows you to explore the ship, get breakfast, or ride the Aquaduck while you wait for your time to go on the island.
Simply open the Disney Cruise Line app at 7:30 am and click Join Queue on the main page. You will be assigned a group and given an estimated time to disembark. I recommend closing out the application at 7:29 and reopening. If you get an error at 7:30 stating that you are unable to join, continue to click join until a boarding group is assigned.
Continue to close and reopen the app to see your group’s status. The app will display how close your group is to being called. Once it turns green, you can head to the gang way to go ashore!
Click View Ticket to access your Virtual QR Code. You will need to show to a Cast Member this upon disembarking.
After the primary rush of guests going ashore, the queue will close, and you can go on Castaway Cay at any point. You can check the status of the queue on the home page of the Disney Cruise Line app.
Now all that’s left to do is enjoy your day at Castaway Cay!
You can book your next Disney Cruise exclusively with Mickey World Travel and receive an on board credit up to $1,000.
