Hollywood Studios rumors confirmed today. Disney informed Cast Members working the Backlot Tour that the attraction will close permanently. The last day guests can ride the attraction is September 27th, 2014. Disney has yet to officially announce the closure to guests but but many Cast Members have confirmed the news today. The opening day attraction closes in just 8 days after 25 years.
No official word on what will occupy the space but the latest rumor is a PIXAR Place expansion to include a third track to Toy Story Mania which would add 50% more capacity to the attraction. Other attractions that may be coming to Hollywood Studios are attractions currently in Toy Story Playland at Disneyland Paris and Toy Story Land in Hong Kong Disneyland. The rest of the space is rumored to be for a Cars attraction.
It’s been a busy week in Walt Disney World with long time attractions ending their run soon. First Maelstrom in Epcot and now the Backlot Tour.
