One of the most popular questions I get asked about going on any Disney vacation is, “What can I do to make it extra magical?” My personal favorite way is for my daughter, Adalyn, to play dress up at the parks and on Disney cruises! My husband Brandon and I, have been taking Adalyn to various Disney destinations since she was two years old, and some of our best memories are of her dressing as her favorite character and getting to meet them. Her expression and amazement are something that I will never forget.
The characters are wonderful, and when children are dressed to match them, they make an extra special effort to make your child feel special! Not only do the characters make that extra effort, cast members throughout the resorts and cruise do as well. When dressed in her costumes, she is always addressed by the characters name (Hello Minnie, Cinderella, Princess, etc). She has even been announced to fellow passengers as a princess on the Walt Disney World buses as we travel to the parks each day.
There are also certain times at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and on Disney Cruise Line when adults are allowed to dress up in costumes as well, making it even more fun for the whole family. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of those times when the whole family can dress up. This event is a favorite of my family! We choose a theme and all coordinate outfits. Then we meet our matching characters at the party for photos.
While there are many extras with Disney that can be purchased such as the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Pirates League, dessert parties, Memory Maker, excursions on Disney Cruise Line and behind the scenes tours, your children’s favorite character costumes are a great and inexpensive way to provide a little extra pixie dust!
