If you have ever stayed at Disney’s Beach Club Resort or Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, you probably found yourself eating the seafood buffet at Cape May Cafe…if you were lucky enough to get a reservation. The seafood buffet found inside Disney’s Beach Club was a huge favorite for my family and any client’s I made reservations for to eat there. I was skeptical that I would have the same level of satisfaction with the new format of family style when Cape May Cafe reopened. I can honestly say that I like it even more than the buffet!
As a mother of three boys, buffets are often a lot of work for me. I have to help everyone get their food and settled before I can start getting my plate filled. This new family style is relaxing and delicious. Every member of my family was so happy with this meal they begged to make it a must-do for every Disney trip. Dinner costs $42 per adult and $25 per child, but it is worth every penny. You can ask for as much as you want of any of the servings (which we often did).
The meal starts off with rolls and cornbread served with three different types of butter. You can choose from the roasted garlic-herb butter, salted butter, or cheese spread (still tasted like a butter). The bread was warm and the cornbread was perfection. I was the only one to partake in the seasonal harvest salad and I was happy not to have to share! It was fresh and light with a refreshing citrus-vanilla vinaigrette dressing.
Next we were brought two servings of the lobster macaroni and cheese. The lobster taste was not too noticeable for those who aren’t big lobster fans. My kids really enjoyed this part of the meal.
The main entrees that are served are so delicious that words do not do them justice. The Seafood Boil was full of mussels, shrimp, clams, fish, potatoes, and corn on the cob. My children could eat their weight in shrimp, so we asked for more helpings of shrimp…twice! The Turf Platter was a big hit with the adults! It contained strip loin with the most mouth watering chimichurri sauce. The lemon-pepper chicken was moist and tender and my kids asked for more drumsticks. The mashed potatoes had amazing flavor and the vegetables were…well vegetables. With everything else in front of us I don’t think we touched a single green bean.
Now even though you get all this amazing food, if it is still not enough there are two different enhancements you can order. You can add a whole main lobster for $35 or a pound of steamed crab legs for $29. We let our kids choose and they wanted the crab legs. They were standard crab legs, nothing special, but we still enjoyed them immensely.
Hopefully you still have room after all that, because the dessert here is also incredible. They brought us two plates of the selections and offered us more but we were too full. Every single dessert was delicious and I wish I had a second stomach to eat more of them!
We planned our reservation time for later so we could finish around the time the fireworks at Epcot were going off. We had a 8:30 reservation and took our time eating and walked out to the walkway next to Stormalong Bay and watched the fireworks from Epcot Forever. This was the perfect way to finish our day at Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club. These resorts are our absolute favorite resorts to stay in when we visit Walt Disney World. You cannot go wrong with all they have to offer!
