Disney is set to expand the FastPass+ system yet again! The system has been in “testing” phase for over a year and with that comes enhancements. The most recent is allowing all guests the ability to schedule FastPasses in advance whether you are a resort guest or not. Day guests will not receive Magic Bands since the tickets have the technology already built in, but day guests can purchase a Magic Band if they choose.
Since the initial rollout over 3.5 million guests have tested the MyMagic+ and Disney has listened to all our feedback. Changes are coming! In addition to the 3 FastPasses you can reserve in advance, you can now get an additional FastPass inside the park at one of the kiosks after your third FastPass is used. When you use the forth you can now select another and so on, very similar to the Legacy FastPass system. Park Hopping with FastPasses is coming! Disney is currently working on an enhancement to allow guests to park hop with reserved FastPasses.
Tom Staggs, Chairman Walt Disney Parks and Resorts said in the blog post, “As expected, most of our guests think that securing times to ride our attractions is one of the best ways to maximize the fun of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. We’ve heard from a number of guests that they would like the opportunity to add additional FastPass+ entitlements during their visit, in addition to the three they can plan in advance. So, we’re working on providing them with the ability to add and enjoy additional entitlements on the day of their visit.
Once they’ve used the three they’ve booked, we’ll enable them to select another at kiosks in the parks. And once they’ve used the fourth, they can select another, and so on. We also heard that other guests liked the fact that with the FastPass+ service they could use FASTPASS when they park hopped. So we’re working on a service enhancement to add that feature to FastPass+ as well.”
This is exciting news, the two biggest complaints about the new system are being addressed. No official date of the updates yet.
